How Better UI/UX Design Doubled a Client's Online Enquiry Rate

A professional services company had a website that looked outdated and generated almost no leads. A complete UI/UX redesign changed that within 30 days.

First Impressions Are Everything

When a potential customer lands on your website, they make a judgement about your business within the first five seconds. Research from Stanford University found that 75% of users judge a company's credibility based on its website design alone.

Our client — a professional services firm in Colombo — had a website that had not been updated since 2019. It was slow, difficult to navigate, and looked nothing like the modern, credible firm they actually were. Despite running paid advertising, they were getting almost no enquiries from their website.

The UX Audit: What We Found

Before writing a single line of code, we conducted a full UX audit of the existing website. The findings were clear:

Problem 1: No Clear Hierarchy Every piece of information on the homepage was given equal visual weight. Visitors did not know where to look first or what to do next.

Problem 2: The Contact Form Was on Page 7 To get in touch, a visitor had to navigate through six pages of content. Most people gave up long before finding it.

Problem 3: Mobile Experience Was Broken 74% of their website traffic came from mobile devices. The site was almost unusable on a phone.

Problem 4: Trust Signals Were Absent No client logos, no testimonials, no case studies, no team photos. Nothing that would convince a first-time visitor to trust the company.

Problem 5: Page Speed Was 8 Seconds Well above the critical 3-second threshold where users begin abandoning pages.

The Redesign

We rebuilt the website from scratch with a clear user journey in mind. Every decision was driven by one question: *what does a potential client need to see in order to feel confident enough to enquire?*

Key changes included a prominent "Get a Quote" button visible on every page, a restructured homepage that leads visitors from problem to solution to proof to action, client testimonials and project case studies placed prominently on the homepage, a contact form accessible from the header on every page, and full mobile optimisation with a load time under 2 seconds.

The Results After 30 Days

  • **Enquiry rate doubled** — from an average of 4 enquiries per week to 9
  • **Bounce rate dropped from 78% to 41%** — meaning far more visitors were engaging with the content
  • **Average session duration increased from 45 seconds to 2 minutes 40 seconds**
  • **Mobile conversion rate** increased by 180%
  • The same advertising budget that was generating 4 enquiries per week was now generating more than double — with zero increase in ad spend
